2 SnG wins at once

I just started 2 SnGs at once and one them both. I've maybe done that before, but I don't think so.

Let these 2 hands be a lesson on not minraising three handed preflop when I'm in a blind.

Also. Do not implode HU. You just cost yourself money. This guy had been giving me trouble. The blinds were high and I made a kinda careless push preflop. He made an even more careless call.

3 Parts. One hand.

PT. 1 Trap setting without the nuts
Against the right players you don't need the nuts to set a trap. Against some players, in some situations your hand can be pretty awful but you can still set a trap. I'll get in to that more but first I'll introduce you to part 2.

PT. 2 Trapping without checking/calling.
A weak bet often looks like free money to a player who loves aggression and is reckless. So it's often easier to trap a player like this by betting and giving him something to get greedy over.

Pt. 3 Never say Never.
There are some things I generally don't do playing poker. This includes minraising preflop. However rules are made to be broken. If you found perfect poker rules to follow you'd be pretty predictable. This isn't blackjack. However if you break these rules you're gonna need a plan and you're gonna need a reason.

Putting all 3 parts into play.
In this hand I had seen this player severely overplay A6s. So when he limps from the SB I assume he's weak, but that doesn't mean he can't overplay whatever his weak holdings are. So I min raise here. Partly because I can afford to miss a flop if he calls and I miss and I lose the hand. Also I think he'll quite possibly pay me off if I hit. Also he may come back over the top with a hand that I'm racing or ahead of. But I don't think I'm gonna be behind here. Even with KQ. Not right now against this guy with his SB limp.

Putting all 3 parts into play.

2 SnGs - 2 interesting hands

Ok this hand is interesting because I've been wanting to try this. "This" being showing aggression on the flop when I think I'm ahead and then weakness on the turn while I still think I'm ahead. I was mainly willing to do this because there was almost no way I was gonna fold after the flop. The turn card was a perfect card for me to follow through with what I wanted to do.

Slow Day

On Full Tilt I switched from the Rock avatar to the Asian guy avatar. I'm not Asian but I am something of a rock (except I got tricks). Honestly the Asian avatar intimidates me the most so that's why I decided to go with it.

This weekend I hope to play 4 $33 SnGs on Full Tilt. If the first two don't go well I can see myself not following through, but I want to find success at this level. I really want to move up to $55's at some point in the nearish future. The end of the year would be great. On Full Tilt I feel the table a lot better than I do on PS. I think it's the interface. Seems more like I'm playing people or something...

I didn't play much poker because I have a Biology test tomorrow. I ended up not really studying for it anyways. But I did have a good LHE session. up 12 BBs I believe.

As far as my last two SnGs of the night KJ called my KQ AI when he shouldn't have and turned a J and 66 called my JJ reraise when he shouldn't have and flopped a 6. It happens.

Time for a blog

I created this blog because there are just way too many poker hands that I want to talk about for me to go flooding forums with them. Lately I've been doing really well and I want a place to put down some hands that are interesting and if anyone wants to comment on how I played them that would be nice.

I just finished an SnG that had some of the worst play in the world. The guy who eventually got heads up against me had minraised A2o and K8o from EP. It actually kind of made it difficult to be comfortable with any hand, but it didn't make the SnG difficult by any means. I love how this one ended.

What I really find interesting is if he hadn't raised preflop I don't think I get all my chips in here. I sure as hell don't checkraise and call his reraise with 74o if he had limped. A major problem with his play is his preflop min-raise gives me information without making me feel inclined to fold. I'm still trying to figure out how I was convinced it was an overpair... I believe he would have raised most pairs more freflop with the exception of AA, KK, QQ and JJ. I'd imagine he'd minraise those. But on the flop with those hands I don't think he would've put out his pot bet. That's where all the information pointed at overcards. Of course I won't lie and say I was 100% sure he had overs. But I was sure enough. Most of the analysis I'm doing now is me trying to figure out how I knew I was ahead as opposed being to analysis I consciously did on the flop. All those elements were in my mind when I made the call but not nearly so well articulated.

Now that I've bragged about that I'm gonna tell you some problems with my game. It's possible to put me on tilt though it's usually a slight tilt but it's enough to cost me money. I think it used to be harder to put me on tilt. I also think I'm getting back to where it's hard again.
Also. Sometimes (rarely but too often) I DON'T think a hand through. I don't think about my position or chipstack or opponents chipstack or an opponents previous mood. And it can be costly. Sometimes I only see what I want to see on the flop and immediately react. That can be trouble. I also sometimes have a plan for what to do when the next card comes down, and I execute the plan not realizing it put 4 to a straight on the board or something goofy like that.
The problem is most of my thinking is done very internally. I don't really always know what I'm thinking. I can do things "for a reason" and spend five minutes explaining the reason afterward, but while I'm explaining it I'm figuring it out. Know what I mean? And so that does have potential flaws because, sometimes once it comes down to direct reasoning my plan just wasn't thought out and sensical.
